Nara Space Technology was founded in 2015 as a nano satellite development and network operation company providing satellite data services. Our first satellite, the Observer-1, is planned for launch in November of this year, while the Earthpaper data platform, which provides a user-friendly environment, has launched and is being serviced. Our super resolution technology (increasing the resolution of satellite images by a factor of 3 or more) is already being sold in Europe, and through Series A we have attracted a total of KRW 13.5 billion in investment.

Product Highlights
-
Nara Space offers one-stop solutions from satellite layout, design, and production through operations and supply of data. The 16U Observer-1 man-made satellite is capable of taking 1.5m high-resolution video, and our super resolution technology developed in-house can be used to transmit 50cm ultra-high-resolution video. Nara Space’s technology has already been proven through carrying out the monitoring camera VCS mission for the Nuri performance test satellite launch, and its satellite functions and capabilities also reflect the industry’s latest technology. On the satellite data platform Earthpaper, clients can use a variety of satellite usage content and customized satellite usage services.
Areas of Application
-
Satellite imaging is being used in a variety of industries and fields. From crop monitoring and harvest prediction in the agricultural field to deforestation and forest health evaluation in the environmental monitoring area, including climate change and disaster monitoring. Major use cases for satellite data include resource management such as for city planning and development and petroleum, gas, and mineral exploration, tracking ship movement and illegal fishing vessels, collection and monitoring of national defense-related information and reconnaissance.

Market Outlook
- The satellite market has grown rapidly over the past ten years, and this trend is expected to accelerate with the development of miniaturized technology, decreased launch costs, and increased demand for spatial information. Rather than stopping with simple capturing of satellite images, provision of services that create added value like the use of machine learning and artificial intelligence for analysis and providing meaningful insights is also taking its place as a prominent trend.
Commercialization Plans
-
A launch is planned for Nara Space’s first satellite, the Observer-1, in November 2023. We plan to launch 100 by 2027, providing real-time monitoring for Earth’s major cities and providing insights to a variety of industries. We are already supplying client-customized data through Nara Space’s satellite usage platform, Earthpaper, which allows users to check a variety of spatial information content.
