Since it was founded in 2005, Innowill has stuck to the single path of R&D and production of high-performance compact heat exchangers. In 2006, we were the first company in Korea to develop a printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE) and received recognition for our technical proficiency. Since 2011 we have been the only company in Korea to develop a primary surface heat exchanger (PSHE), and we primarily make deliveries to the aerospace industry when high efficiency and compact size are required, such as for unmanned aerial vehicles and next-generation fighter planes, etc., and to the energy industry for SOFC/SOEC, etc.

Product Overview and Main Content
- Our heat exchangers, which have micro wrinkle fins formed in 0.1mm stainless sheets, have compact size but extremely large heating surfaces of 1500m2/m3 or more, and have excellent efficiency. In addition, they not only have excellent heat resistance due to being made from heat resistant stainless steel, but their unique spring construction and laser welding give them excellent structural stability. Because we carry out production by modularizing and combining heat exchangers, we can customize them for various client uses and produce them in a variety of capacities and shapes.
- Recently, in addition to cylinder and box-form primary surface type head exchangers that use high aspect ratio micro channel wrinkle fins to make all heating surfaces into main heating surfaces, we have also succeeded in developing hybrid-type heat exchangers that use both etching sheets and fins, as well as effectors that can be used for high-efficiency heat exchangers. We also offer the BrazeWel® plate-fin type heat exchanger, which is effective for high-temperature heat waste recovery, and aluminum brazed type heat exchangers specialized for the aeronautic industry.
- The process of creating a heat exchanger from a sheet is extremely arduous and requires the highest level of technical skill. We have our own equipment to allow the formation of micro wrinkle fins in sheets, and we produce our own wrinkle fin sheets in the required forms. Depending on the product, gas tungsten arc (GTA) welding or laser welding is used on the formed sheets, or this is combined with soldering processes like brazing to develop and make products. We have seasoned staff for each process and a wealth of knowledge acquired through development experience.
Product Highlights
- We primarily produce primary surface heat exchanger products with corrugated fins designed to cause counter-flow. Because all of the heating surfaces carry out heat transfer directly, they generally have higher performance and operational efficiency than heat exchangers that have subsidiary heating surfaces. Thanks to using flow channels with small, 1–2 mm hydraulic diameters, considerable heat transfer can be carried out within the minimum volume, and if this is converted to the ratio of heat transfer area to unit of volume, it produces a figure of 2000m2/m2, which is several times as high as typical heat exchangers.
Areas of Application
-
They are generally used in the field of new and renewable energy for equipment like micro gas turbines, high-temperature fuel cells, and high-temperature water electrolysis, and we are expanding the area of application to the aerospace area for use in next-generation fighter planes, unmanned vehicles, and urban air transportation, etc. The heat exchangers we produce require efficiency of 75–95%, and they can be used for fields that require operation with pressure loss in low-pressure areas or in high-temperature operating environments.

Business Results
Market Outlook
- We are completing a number of development projects in the aerospace area and demonstrating our technical capabilities, but most of our sales come from products that have the same form and function but a different area of application—new and renewable energy like hydrogen. More precisely, we provide products for high-efficiency electrical generation systems like high-temperature fuel cells and high-temperature water electrolysis for the production of hydrogen with electricity, and these areas are continuing to grow with the global warming crisis and efforts to respond to it with carbon reduction policies.
Commercialization Plans
-
All of the heat exchangers we produce are at least 90% complete, and we have references from a wide variety of fields. This means that when needs are presented for a commercialization application, although it depends on the scale and level of commercialization, we are able to carry out commercialization in a short period of 1 to 2 years. We can speed up this process or increase the level of completeness by working with our network of partners in government-affiliated research institutes, schools, and cooperating firms.
