HANBIT small satellite launch vehicle
- In March 2023, a successful test launch of the experimental Small Satellite Launch Vehicle ‘HANBIT’ was carried out at Alcantara Space Center, Brazil, completing flight performance testing of this 1stStage hybrid rocket engine with 15 tons of thrust
- In order to provide satellite launch services depending on payload weight, the HANBIT small satellite launch vehicle is being developed with a three-vehicle line-up (Nano, Micro, and Mini)
- Uses: Providing satellite launch services to allow small satellites with functions such as communications, earth observation, technology demonstration, and Scientific experiment to enter target orbit
- Orbits for possible entry: LEO or SSO (sun-synchronous orbit) under 500km
- Payload weight: HANBIT-Nano (up to 50kg), HANBIT-Micro (up to 150kg), HANBIT-Mini (up to 500kg)
-
Performance Testing/Evaluation of Rocket Propulsion System
- We have fire test facilities capable of horizontal and vertical fire testing of 20 ton or smaller rockets for rocket propulsion system
- We have experience carrying out several hundred times of fire testing of 15 ton or smaller rockets for rocket propulsion system
- Construction has been completed on cryogenic LOx and high-temperature gas supply facility and real-time control and measurement system
- In addition to actual delivery results, we also have performance testing and evaluation experience for rocket propulsion system
Small Sounding Rocket ‘BLACK BIRD’
- Uses HDPE-LN2O hybrid rocket technology
- Product reliability has been comfirmed by approximately 30 test launches
- Uses: scientific experiment, Cloud seeding test, CanSatTests etc.
- Payload Weight: 900g
- We have actual results from small sounding rocket and launcher delivery to the National Institute of Meteorological Sciences for manmade rainfall testing

Market Outlook
- Expanding the global market of space and small satellite industries
- The global small satellite market is anticipated to reach approximately KRW 100 trillion over 2022 - 2031, and the small satellite launch market will be approximately KRW 37 trillion
- Expected that 18,460 small satellites (under 500 kg) will be launched over 2022 - 2031 (a four times increase compared to the past 10 years)
- Increasing the demand for small satellite launches in Korea
- By 2035, approximately 170 satellites and 40 domestic launches will be carried out under government leadership (through the “Korean-Style Satellite Navigation System Development Project”)
- There are industry-led government development and mass production plans for 100 cube satellites by 2031 (through the 2021 “cube satellites Development Execution Plan”)
- Demand for domestic launch of around 500 small satellites (up to 500kg) is expected for 2021–2030, and the demand is expected to rise every year (Korea Aerospace Research Institute Report)
